A reduction linocut is a relief printmaking technique that uses a single linoleum block to create a multi-colored print. This is achieved by progressively carving away sections of the block and printing each layer on top of the previous one.
This project started from a simple need to create a calendar for the new year, while also exploring a new print medium and technique. However it quickly snowballed into a very time- and labor-intensive process with many learnings! And the results were well worth the effort.
The 12 different layers of this print series are shown from left to right and top to bottom, with each print hand-numbered to represent a month in 2025.
